ACF Smokin’ BBQ FAQs answer the most common questions about the ACF Smokin’ BBQ, including teams, power availability, parking, lodging, Kids’ Que, and event logistics for the Albany County Fair Smokin’ BBQ Cook-Off.
Will there be power?
Yes, we should have 20-amp service for the teams, unless something unexpected occurs. We recommend bringing your own generator as a backup, just in case.
New this year, we have 12 dedicated RV spots available for $40 a night. These sites have dedicated 30-amp power, water, and waste hookups.
What is the People’s Choice all about?
All competition teams are automatically eligible to compete in the People’s Choice by either providing their leftovers or participating in Anything Goes. Purse for Peoples’ Choice will be $500 and will pay out 3 places. The Champion will get an ACF Belt Buckle.
Where can I learn more about this year’s Kid’s Que?
The ACF Team is hard at work right now, building a new page for this event. STAY TUNED!
Can we come to the event before Thursday?
If you want to come in earlier than Thursday, 23 July (maybe want to go enjoy Cheyenne Frontier Days), please reach out to Patrick directly, downeypwy@yahoo.com.
Is Boone Docking available during the weekend of the event?
Boone Docking for judges and teams will be available starting Thursday night, July 23rd, 2026.
Will there be hotel rooms in Laramie during the event?
Unfortunately, hotels, because of Cheyenne Frontier Days, have not been cooperating or willing to block rooms at a reasonable discount rate. We would recommend searching travel sites as early as possible to see if you can get a good deal. Additionally, as of early January, a search on Airbnb showed rooms available at respectable rates for consideration. Again, the sooner you book, the better.
Is there a water station available for those who want to Boone Dock?
A water station will be available to fill your RV tanks with water. Upgrade now to one of the dedicated RV spots that come with their own dedicated 30-amp power, water and sewer.
Will grey- and/or black-water dumping be available for the event?
We recommend you use those services at the Wyoming Territorial Prison. Here is a link to more information. Upgrade now to one of the dedicated RV spots that come with their own dedicated 30-amp power, water and sewer.
We will be there all weekend. Where can we clean up?
The Albany County Fairgrounds has showers available for all teams and their families.
What is the cancelation Policy?
A refund may be granted 30 days before the event, June 25, 2026. Please contact Patrick directly at downeypwy@yahoo.com to request a refund.
If you don’t see your question answered here, please contact the ACF Smokin’ BBQ team before event weekend.
